In March 2026, we joined a community bird walk through Havey Canyon in Wildcat Canyon Regional Park with one goal in mind: to document the place as we experienced it.

While the walk was organized in response to a proposed mountain bike flow trail through the canyon, we participated as nature photographers. Rather than focusing on the proposal itself, we focused on the wildlife and landscapes that make this area so special.

Throughout the morning, we photographed birds moving through the oak woodland, a resident coyote quietly watching from the hillside, butterflies and other insects, native spring wildflowers, sweeping views of the canyon, and the people who came together to experience it. Together, these images tell the story of a thriving ecosystem and a community that values spending time in nature.
