Every spring to summer, volunteers play a vital role in protecting the California Least Tern, one of California's endangered coastal birds and the smallest tern species. 

Because these tiny seabirds nest directly on open beaches and breed along the Pacific coast from San Pablo Bay, California, in the north, to San Jose del Cabo, in the state of Baja California Sur, Mexico, to the south (California Least Tern (Sterna Antillarum Browni) | U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, n.d.), their eggs and chicks are especially vulnerable to predators, human disturbance, and habitat loss. 

We are two such volunteers. Inspired by our 40+ hours of volunteering with San Francisco Bay Bird Observatory (SFBBO) during the 2024 South Bay Tern Watch Program, we designed a series of posters and stickers to attract more volunteers for future nesting seasons at Eden Landing Ecological Reserve, California.
